What happens if the sun rises from the west?

This means earth is rotating from west to east.

lets make 2 cases.

but if this thing happens quickly then every thing goes down. currently everything connected to earth including the air travels at speed near 450 m/sec. now if earth stops everything continues at 450 m/sec but if earth starts rotating west to east then everything rotates at 900 m/sec. which will destroy pretty much everything.

when this change happens slow and gradual, temp difference between day and night will increase to an extent when earth stops rotating and one side is exposed for long time to sun causing a long hot day and other side to be long cold night. Temp difference can be lethal for many animal and plant species but some may evolve as the change is gradual.

If the Sun were to suddenly start rising from the west instead of the east, it would mean that Earth’s rotation has reversed. This scenario is nearly impossible under normal circumstances, but if it did happen, the consequences would be catastrophic.

1. Extreme Global Disruptions

Earth’s rotation is what creates our day-night cycle, and a reversal would lead to severe changes:

Climate Shifts: Ocean currents that regulate global temperatures would be thrown into chaos, leading to extreme weather events.

Strong Earthquakes and Tsunamis: A sudden shift in rotation would cause immense stress on Earth’s crust, triggering massive earthquakes and tsunamis worldwide.

Atmospheric Turbulence: Winds and jet streams that influence weather patterns would be disrupted, possibly leading to prolonged storms and unusual climate phenomena.

2. Disruptions in the Solar System

Earth’s rotation is linked to its orbit and axial tilt. If rotation reversed, it could alter the stability of our orbit, potentially affecting seasons and even our long-term position in the solar system.

3. Biological and Ecological Consequences

Animals and Plants Confused: Many species rely on the Sun’s movement for navigation and survival. A sudden reversal could lead to mass extinctions.

Human Adaptation Issues: Our entire way of life—agriculture, sleep cycles, technology—depends on Earth’s normal rotation. Adjusting to a reversed day-night cycle would be incredibly difficult.

Could This Ever Happen?

In reality, Earth reversing its spin is nearly impossible without an external force, like a massive planetary collision. However, simulations show that if Earth gradually started spinning in the opposite direction, deserts would become forests, and some regions would experience massive changes in rainfall.

Conclusion

While it’s an intriguing idea, if the Sun ever rose from the west, it would signal a catastrophic event that would likely make life on Earth extremely difficult—if not impossible.
