For me personally it’s because I have access to Google and every time Musk or one of his lap dogs exposes some “fraud,” I simply look into it myself instead of buying into the propaganda.
When you do things this way, you’ll find that Musk’s entire narrative is BS. So far, there’s been almost no real waste uncovered and, it turns out, the massive firings and slashing of programs has netted almost no meaningful savings for Americans, suggesting that these programs were already pretty cost effective.
All of the made up numbers floating around have been false. Musk didn’t cancel $55 billion or $100 billion in government waste, the number is something closer to $2 billion. That’s about $6 per American, which in Trump’s economy won’t even get you a carton of eggs.
Millions of dead people were not receiving social security checks, audits showed that only something like 44,000 people over the age of 100 were being sent checks, which tracks with the number of people we have in this country who are over 100.
$100 million in condoms was not given to Hamas. Instead something like $5 million in contraceptives were given to the Gaza province of Mozambique.
USAID wasn’t paying $8 million to subsidize Politico, it paid $44,000 for a Politico Pro subscription which is an enterprise-level subscription service for businesses and professional policy makers that need detailed information about policy changes in the government.
Why are Democrats so scared of government transparency and accountability?
This is an odd statement to ask of Democrats because, as I’ve just explained above, Trump and Musk have been dramatically off on the size and scope of everything they’ve done so far. To the point where the size of spending cuts was inflated by 50 times the real number.
What kind of transparency and accountability is that?
How did they get their numbers so wrong? Is it because they were lying? Then how is that “transparency”?
Is it because they don’t actually know or understand what’s going on with their own organization? Then how is that “accountability”?
I’d love some transparency and accountability right now, but we’re simply not getting it because this government is so profoundly incompetent.

President Elon Musk accompanied by his two children.
We ARE aware that whatever DOGE is doing seems to violate the law, does not have the imprimatur of Congress and seems to violate the basics of auditing, corruption busting, and even basic criminal investigation. The Republicans either don’t know that; or do KNOW IT and simply don’t care.
Let’s see:
- Elon Musk and his DOGE flunkies have ZERO experience working with or within the departments they are “auditing” – That is so absurd and frankly so fraught with criminal and civil problems that rational people wouldn’t have even attempted to undertake it.
- No auditors, subject matter exerts, nor accountants seem to be involved in what DOGE is doing – That’s going to provide a field day for the armies of attorneys who are going to be suing the government for their actions as the group is making claims which they cannot support using the legally understood methodologies of auditing.
- No one from Congress appears to be involved in the so-called “audits” – Since Congress, by LAW, controls the spending and creation/dissolution of federal agencies and departments, how DOGE is closing down departments and halting spending without violating black letter law is uncertain. In fact, not involving Congress strips away much of the veneer of legitimacy that the POTUS is trying to give it.
- Corruption, waste and abuse sound like allegations of criminal activity – The Department of Justice (DOJ) would be require to take point after allegation such as this were made as that means crimes may have been committed. The longer that DOJ is held away from the matter the less likely that viable prosecutions can be made. In fact, keeping the DOJ away could itself be viewed as being a series of coverups which themselves could be viewed as being crimes.
- The T**** Administration is doing a particularly poor job of making it clear why this is happening – If they have nothing to hide, then the DOGE would be explained in detail, Congress would be thoroughly involved in the matter, and they would have presented evidence that supports their claims. They are doing none of that and in fact their attacking critics seems to indicate that they cannot support the assertions that they are making.
Democrats see this as a questionable attempt to seize more power for the Executive Branch.
Republicans, on the other hand, seem to be unwilling to challenge T**** and seem to be willing to accept explanations which make no sense when they are scrutinized closely.
You buy what the White House is selling, querent.
The Democrats don’t as they know that T****’s credibility is nonexistent.
